Jose Mourinho: 'Paul Pogba comeback beyond my control'

Mourinho: 'I have no control over Pogba return'

Jose Mourinho insists that he has no control over Paul Pogba's return from injury and urges the press to ask Manchester United club doctor Steve McNally instead.

Jose Mourinho has stressed that Paul Pogba's return from a hamstring injury is beyond the Manchester United manager's control.

The midfielder has been sidelined since picking up the problem during the 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League on September 12.

Despite Pogba posting an Instagram video on Thursday showing his rehabilitation in Miami, Mourinho insists that he has no timescale over the former world record signing's comeback and urged reporters to ask club doctor Steve McNally.

"I have no idea," Mourinho told Sky Sports News when asked about Pogba's recovery. "If you ask me 'do you think he can play in the next match in the Premier League against Tottenham', I don't know.

"I am not telling you no and then he plays. You will say I lied to you but I really don't know. I expect Eric Bailly to be back next week but I cannot tell you about [Marouane] Fellaini or Pogba because I have no idea.

"You have to ask Dr McNally - he is responsible for that. I am in control of the players that are available, not the players that are not available."

Pogba has already missed seven games since picking up the hamstring injury.
