Antonio Conte says that he has no regrets over the comments made regarding Jose Mourinho earlier this week, but wants to now draw a line under the matter.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has attempted to put an end to his war of words with Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho by admitting that the feud is "stupid".

The Italian coach took aim at Mourinho earlier this week when accusing the former Blues boss of being "obsessed" with Chelsea since taking over at Old Trafford.

Mourinho had rattled Conte a day earlier, suggesting that the man who replaced him in West London on a permanent basis does nothing but "cry" over injury problems.

Rather than hit out at the Portuguese for a second time, though, Conte instead wants to draw a line under it and move on.

"I think these are stupid things," he told reporters. "For me, this is a stupid subject. A stupid issue. It's fun to see your interest in this. I'm surprised about this, honestly.

"Do I regret the comments? I think every coach, every manager has to talk about his job, about himself, about his team, about his players. Not the other [team's players]. My answer is always the same. Every coach must be focused on his own work. That's the best way."

Conte also revealed that he remains light in the midfield area ahead of his side's home meeting with Watford on Saturday lunchtime.
