Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the Premier League clash with Arsenal on New Year's Day.

Manchester United head into their Premier League showdown at Arsenal having established themselves as a major contender for a top-four spot at the end of the season.

Back-to-back wins over Newcastle United and Burnley have closed the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea, providing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team with plenty of confidence heading into 2020.

As well as looking to move a step closer to achieving their own target, United also have the opportunity to keep their opponents on New Year's Day out of the equation.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the fixture in North London.

Eric Bailly

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

While it was initially suggested that Bailly would recover from a serious knee injury in time for the Christmas period, the Ivorian remains out of contention for United.

Possible return date: Unknown

Like with Bailly, Solskjaer recently revealed that Fosu-Mensah has stepped up his work on the training ground after a serious knee injury. It remains unclear when the Dutchman will return to action.

Scott McTominay

Possible return date: Unknown

Solskjaer has revealed that McTominay will be absent from the first-team picture 'for at least a few weeks' after suffering a knee injury against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Marcos Rojo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Arsenal)

Rojo has been sidelined for several weeks due to a muscular injury. While the Argentine is unlikely to come into Solskjaer's thinking for a starting role, he may earn a place on the substitutes' bench.

Axel Tuanzebe

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Arsenal)

Tuanzebe has been out of contention since picking up a hamstring problem against Colchester United in the EFL Cup on December 18. It is unlikely that the centre-back will play any part in this match.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

United have no players suspended for this match.
