Half-Time Report: Everton cruising past Manchester United

Everton have register a 2-0 half-time lead over Manchester United at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Everton have registered a 2-0 half-time lead over Manchester United at Goodison Park this afternoon.

The Toffees started much the better of the two teams and could have saw their early dominance pay dividends on 20 minutes.

Steven Naismith found himself on the end of Romelu Lukaku's cushioned header, but the Scot's half-volley from outside the area sailed over the bar.

Roberto Martinez's side found the breakthrough on 28 minutes through Leighton Baines, who converted from the penalty spot after defender Phil Jones was adjudged to have handled Lukaku's shot in the box.

Things went from bad to worse for United three minutes before the interval, as Kevin Mirallas beat the offside trap before firing past David De Gea from an acute angle to give Martinez's troops a healthy lead heading into the second half.
