How Manchester City could line up against Manchester United

Ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby clash at the Etihad Stadium, Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City may line up against Manchester United.

Manchester City have the chance to wrap up the Premier League title in record time this weekend when they welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium.

Victory for the Citizens on Saturday evening will see them secure top spot - and a third Prem crown in six years - with six matches left to play.

Pep Guardiola has a big decision to make with regards to his team selection, however, with City three goals down ahead of Tuesday's return fixture against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the champions-elect could line up against the Red Devils.

Predicted Manchester City XI vs. Man Utd

Doubtful: Benjamin Mendy (knee), Sergio Aguero (knee)

The big fitness concern for Man City remains striker Aguero, who missed the 3-0 loss to Liverpool in midweek and is still not fully over an ankle injury picked up nearly a month ago.

Guardiola will be desperate to shoehorn the Argentina international into his side if he passes a fitness test, but there is a debate to be had over who joins him in the forward line, with the Catalan coach surely returning to three up top following the failed experiment to pack out his midfield against the Reds.

Bernardo Silva has got progressively better this term and is in contention for a start here, and Raheem Sterling may be brought back into the side on the opposite side after surprisingly being omitted at Anfield.

Rotation in central midfield can also be expected, with Fernandinho possibly being given a breather for this one, though Kevin De Bruyne has been ever-present in the top flight and will want to retain that record.

Skipper Vincent Kompany, too, is one of those possibly in need of a breather due to the quick turnaround in games, while Fabian Delph, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Danilo, Mendy and Aymeric Laporte are all likely to be in contention to start at left-back - the latter, a centre-back by trade, being given the nod in the last two games.
