La Liga president Javier Tebas says that there is "zero" chance of establishing a European Super League.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has said that there is "zero" chance of establishing a European Super League despite the recent developments.

On Thursday, the European Court of Justice ruled that it would be "unlawful" for FIFA and UEFA to ban players from featuring in a breakaway competition, which has led to a new proposal being put forward by A22 Sports.

Originally, there were 12 clubs involved in the plans, but Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have since made it clear that they will not be featuring in the proposed competition.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are still backers of the European Super League, but Tebas has said that he is "very calm" with the ruling on Thursday, insisting that all attempts to establish a new competition will be rejected.

"The Super League loses with this ruling. There is very little chance of it being held in 2025/2026. The chance of establishing the Super League is zero," Tebas told reporters, as quoted by AS.

"I did not greet [Florentino] Perez (Real Madrid president). We were close to each other in place but far away from each other in thought.

"I saw the list of clubs that supported Perez and it was only one club, it would be a bilateral tournament between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"There will be no Super League in two years or six years. There is nothing to negotiate, when they want to kick you out of your home, don't negotiate.

"The league is our home. The Super League did not obtain a license, they invented a meaningless story. With today's ruling, I am very calm, much more calm than yesterday."

Atletico took aim at Barcelona and Real Madrid in a statement which was released on Thursday.

"Germany, France, England, Italy, Spain (except for Real Madrid & Barcelona) oppose the Super League. We advocate for preserving domestic leagues, and securing qualification for European competitions through on-field performance each season," said the Red and Whites.

Meanwhile, in a lengthy statement, Real Madrid president Perez said that the ruling from the European Court of Justice was a "great day for the history of football".

The Premier League has also released its own statement, firmly rejecting the new proposal on the table.

Despite the ruling on Thursday, there remain a number of obstacles for A22 Sports when it comes to forming a European Super League.
