Manchester United's Daley Blind has heaped praise on the club's youngsters after they helped secure a spot in the last 16 of the Europa League with a 5-1 victory over FC Midtjylland this evening.
Midtjylland opened up a two-goal aggregate lead on the night when they broke the deadlock, but United fought back and eventually stormed past the Danish minnows, who ended the game with 10 men.
Debutant Marcus Rashford stole the headlines by scoring twice having been called up to the starting XI at the 11th hour following an injury to Anthony Martial in the warm-up, while Blind also reserved special praise for man of the match Memphis Depay.
"It's a great night for him and all the other youngsters in the squad. It's great to see them playing well. And I'm really pleased for Memphis too - he was brilliant," he told BT Sport.
"The first half we played well, they created one chance and scored one goal. We played quick and created a lot of chances in the first half, then in the second half we played even better and scored the goals."
In addition to Rashford and Memphis, Louis van Gaal gave playing time to Guillermo Varela, Jesse Lingard, Joe Riley, Andreas Pereira and Regan Poole this evening, all of whom are 23 or under.
