FA claim "robust" Rooney case

Adrian Bevington says that he won't "second guess" how UEFA are going to respond to the FA's appeal regarding Wayne Rooney's three-match ban.

England's managing director Adrian Bevington is confident that the Football Association have a strong case to present to UEFA in an attempt to reduce Wayne Rooney's Euro 2012 ban.

The Manchester United striker will hope to have his original three-match ban overturned in a hearing with the governing body on Thursday.

Rooney was dealt the blow following a kick on Montenegro player Miodrag Dzudovic during the Three Lions' final qualifying match.

"It would be wrong of me to try and second guess where the case goes and also to go into any real detail what our case actually includes at this stage," Bevington told Sky Sports News. "The important element is to present it to UEFA and let them make their judgement from there.

"We feel we have put a very robust case together with some evidence from Wayne, Fabio Capello, from the Montenegrin player [Dzudovic] and also from the specialist external legal advice and our own internal in-house lawyers that we work with as well."

Bevington also defended England's training base for next year's European Championships in Poland following reports that the facility was unsatisfactory.
