Team News: Ander Herrera starts for Manchester United

Ander Herrera starts for Manchester United in their Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow.

Ander Herrera has been handed a start for Manchester United tonight in their Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow.

The Spaniard has made just two competitive starts for Jose Mourinho's side this season but earns a recall after Marouane Fellaini was ruled out following an ankle injury in the 1-0 victory at Southampton on Saturday.

Mourinho makes five alterations to his starting XI following the slender triumph over the Saints, with Anthony Martial replacing Marcus Rashford up front alongside Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Ashley Young and the returning Daley Blind will play on either side of a four-man midfield, with Herrera joining up with Nemanja Matic down the middle as Juan Mata drops to the bench.

Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are back in alongside Eric Bailly in a three-man defence ahead of David de Gea between the posts, with Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones being rested for the lengthy trip to the Russian capital.

For the hosts, Mario Fernandes is passed fit to start despite suffering a concussion in the goalless derby encounter with Dynamo Moscow at the weekend, while Fyodor Chalov earns a recall up front alongside Brazilian striker Vitinho.
