Manchester United have begun their Champions League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Benfica in Portugal.
After an effective spell of pressure, the hosts took a deserved lead on 24 minutes when Oscar Cardozo collected a long ball before turning to lash home.
United drew level before the break when Ryan Giggs was allowed to shoot from outside of the area, thumping the ball into the top corner.
In an end-to-end game, both sides had chances to take the lead after the interval, but neither could make the breakthrough.
In the other game in the group, Basle beat Otelul Gulati 2-1.
