Manchester United assistant coach Mike Phelan has revealed that he is pleased with the team's response to last year's Champions League disappointment as they sealed their qualification into the last 16 on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils, who failed the get past last season's group stage, beat Braga 3-1 in Portugal to book their place in the knockout round with two games to spare.
"We had a disappointing spell in Europe last year and we wanted to put that right as quickly as possible," Phelan told Sky Sports News.
"I think the players have done that tonight and now we can look forward to league football for a while and kick on in the Champions League when it matters."
United resume their Premier League duties on Saturday when they travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa.
