Dimitar Berbatov out of Basel clash

Dimitar Berbatov will miss Manchester United's European clash against FC Basel due to an ankle injury, leaving Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck available for selection.

Dimitar Berbatov will play no part in Manchester United's crucial Champions League group match against FC Basel in Switzerland.

The Bulgarian has been added to the injury list following the blow suffered by frontman Javier Hernandez against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has a lack of options up front following Berbatov's failed recovery from an ankle problem, with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck being the only forwards available.

Welbeck has only made one substituted appearance since picking up a muscular twinge playing for England last month.
