Manchester City will look elsewhere after their bid for Real Madrid defender Pepe was rejected, according to a report.

Manchester City have reportedly abandoned their attempts to bring Real Madrid defender Pepe to the club after the Spaniards rejected their latest bid.

City recently offered £20m for the Portuguese centre-back, but the Liga giants
rejected the bid, preferring to keep him at Santiago Bernabeu, according to the Daily Star.

Madrid want Pepe to stay in order to provide competition alongside Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.

The report claims that City will now turn their attention to alternative targets such as Liverpool's Daniel Agger and Atletico Madrid centre-back Martin Demichelis.
