Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants reportedly unsettled Sergio Aguero to remain at the Etihad for "a long time".

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that he is desperate for Sergio Aguero to remain at the Etihad.

The Argentine forward has scored 11 goals in 11 appearances for Man City this season, but was left on the bench for the club's Champions League clash away to Barcelona last week.

It had been claimed that Aguero was considering his future after failing to gel with Guardiola, but the former Barcelona head coach is hopeful 'deep in his heart' that the forward will stay at the club for "a long time".

"I want to say I am so happy with Sergio, and hopefully he stays here a long time," Guardiola told reporters. "I hope, from deep in my heart, that Sergio will stay here. I know the strikers depend on the moments, sometimes they're good, but we cannot forget how many goals he has scored for us."

Man City will attempt to overcome a run of five games without a win when they travel to rivals Manchester United in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
