Leeds United are reportedly planning to re-sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who left Elland Road last summer.

Leeds United are reportedly interested in re-signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer.

Phillips joined the Leeds academy aged 14, before he worked his way up through the youth ranks until he made his first-team debut in April 2015.

The England international went on to make 234 appearances for Leeds the first time around, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists.

Phillips helped the club win promotion to the top flight in the 2019-20 season, and after spending two years in the Premier League with his boyhood club, he completed a transfer to Man City last summer.

Since completing the £42m move, Phillips has struggled to force his way into Pep Guardiola's side, making just 13 appearances across all competitions.

The midfielder, who struggled with an injury issue prior to the World Cup, is still waiting to make his first Premier League start for the Citizens.

Phillips still remains part of the England setup, starting Thursday's 2-1 win over Italy in Euro 2024 qualifying, but he does not seem to feature in Guardiola's plans.

Although Phillips has a contract with Man City until 2028, he could be set to leave just one year after arriving at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the Daily Star, Leeds would be interested in bringing their academy product back to Elland Road.

The report claims that Leeds attempted to sign Phillips on loan in January, but their proposal was rejected by the Premier League champions.

A potential summer move will depend on whether Leeds can secure their Premier League status, with the Yorkshire club only two points clear of the bottom three.

Leeds could also face competition from their relegation rivals West Ham United, who may need to sign a replacement for Declan Rice.

Rice is widely expected to leave the Hammers this summer, with Man City among a number of clubs that are looking to secure his signature.
