Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva has revealed that he wants to return to Portugal "in a year or two".

The Portugal international expressed a desire to leave the Etihad Stadium last summer for personal reasons but ultimately remained with the Citizens and has been a vital player for the club this term.

Silva is believed to be unhappy with his overall lifestyle in England, though, and the 27-year-old has conceded that he wants to return to his homeland in the near future, potentially to rejoin Benfica.

"I miss Portugal a lot. If I could go back in a year or two, I would. Not only because I would like to play for Benfica again, but because I miss my family and living in Portugal very much," Silva told Channel 11.

The 27-year-old has been vital to Man City's success this season, making 38 appearances in all competitions, contributing 10 goals and four assists in the process.

Silva came through the youth system at Benfica before representing their first team on three occasions ahead of a switch to Monaco.

The versatile attacker has won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four League Cup trophies during his time at the Etihad Stadium, making 239 appearances in the process.
