Raheem Sterling: 'I would consider playing abroad'

England winger Raheem Sterling has suggested that a move to an overseas club, rather than Arsenal, could be on the cards should he depart Manchester City in the future.

England winger Raheem Sterling has suggested that a move to an overseas club could be on the cards should he depart Manchester City in the future.

The 23-year-old, who has two and a half years left on his contract, was wanted by Arsenal in the summer as part of a deal to take Alexis Sanchez to the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola vetoed the move and, four months on, Sterling has already scored a career-high 13 goals ahead of Sunday's derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"I'm happy at Man City at the moment," Sterling told the Daily Mail. "But nobody knows what the future brings so one day, definitely, it would be nice to play abroad. It would be a great experience.

"Spain's attractive. Anywhere the weather is nice really! Can't be in London. I can't be near my friends. They got to stay down there."

In November, Sterling scored winners in consecutive games against Feyenoord, Huddersfield Town and Southampton to keep Man City on top form in the Premier League and Champions League.
