Graeme Souness: 'Manchester City still need to improve'

Graeme Souness believes that Manchester City still have a lot of work to do to improve despite their 1-0 win over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

Graeme Souness has insisted that Manchester City still need to improve this season despite their 1-0 win over Manchester United in their derby clash on Sunday.

The Citizens bounced back from losses to West Ham United and Newcastle United in their last two matches to claim a vital victory at the Etihad Stadium as Sergio Aguero's strike downed the Red Devils.

However, the Scot feels that Manuel Pellegrini has too many good players at his disposal for his side to be struggling during matches this season.

Souness told Sky Sports News: "This will give them a bit of confidence they badly need – but I'm disappointed I have to say that. There are such a big team with such good players but getting beat is part of football and you lose the odd game even if you are the best around.

"Big players don't react like that and that's my concern for City, who should be better than that and better than they were in the last 10-15 minutes against United."

City are third in the Premier League after 10 matches in the campaign.
