Man City's Manuel Pellegrini: 'Kevin de Bruyne will be a special player for us'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini hails Kevin de Bruyne's attributes after the club spend £55m to sign the Belgian from Wolfsburg.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident that new signing Kevin de Bruyne will "fit straight in" following his big-money move from Wolfsburg.

The former Chelsea midfielder, who left Stamford Bridge last year to move to Germany for around £18m, signed for City on Sunday for a club-record £55m fee.

"We are very happy to have added Kevin to our team and I have no doubt that he will be a big success on his return to the Premier League," Pellegrini told the club's official website.

"It takes a special footballer to improve our squad and I have no doubt that Kevin is certainly one of those. He has all of the mental, physical, tactical and technical attributes required to fit straight in.

"We like to play attractive, attacking football and bringing in a player like De Bruyne will only aid us as we fight on four fronts."

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a six-year contract.
