Manuel Pellegrini admits to Manchester City complacency

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admits that he and his team became complacent towards the end of Wednesday night's 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he and his team became complacent towards the end of Wednesday night's 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion.

City led 3-0 with five minutes remaining, but an own goal from Costel Pantilimon and a stoppage-time strike from Victor Anichebe closed the gap on the scoreline at The Hawthorns.

"I think we played really well in the first half and had three or four more clear chances," Pellegrini told BBC Sport.

"The second half we controlled the game and made it 3-0. In the last few minutes, maybe all of us, including me, were thinking of the next match on Saturday. That is when they scored their two goals."

Third-placed City, who are now six points ahead of rivals Manchester United in the table, visit Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
