Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini defends his recent card-waving gesture.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has defended his imaginary card-waving during a recent match.

The Italian made the gesture during City's 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic on Monday when he believed an opposition players should have been sent off.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney were amongst those who voiced their unhappiness over the incident.

"In Italy, we move our hands," Mancini told reporters. "For us, it's nothing, it's normal. It's not important."

The Premier League leaders host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
