Vincent Kompany "fired up" for key Chelsea battle

Vincent Kompany says that he and his Manchester City teammates are "fired up" for their potentially decisive Premier League clash at Chelsea in two weeks.

Vincent Kompany is relishing Manchester City's crucial Premier League trip to Chelsea in two weeks' time as the champions look to revive their title hopes.

City surrendered a 15-game unbeaten streak after losing 2-0 to Arsenal on Sunday - a result that left the reigning champions five points behind the high-flying Blues.

Defeat at Stamford Bridge would see Manuel Pellegrini's side slip eight points off the pace with 15 games to play, and Kompany says that he and his teammates are "fired up" for the visit.

"In theory it should be better for us now because we will definitely be more fired up for that [match]," he told Sky Sports News.

"We have always been great in games like this so I'm actually looking forward to it."

The sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture at Eastlands earlier in the season.
