Pep Guardiola: 'I will never manage Barcelona again'

Pep Guardiola has no intention of returning to Barcelona in the future as he does not believe that his previous success there can be replicated.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has categorically ruled out a future reunion with Barcelona, insisting that his previous success can never be replicated.

The Catalan coach won an unprecedented 14 titles in four years at Camp Nou during his first senior managerial stint, including two Champions League crowns.

Guardiola's success was made all the more special due to the level of homegrown talent in Barca's ranks, but the 47-year-old has no intention of going back as he does not want to ruin his own legacy.

"As a coach [of Barcelona], it's over. I am not the same, nor do they even look at me in the same way," he told TV3. "I was at a fantastic age in which I was taking on the world.

"We took it on with some incredible players, a young president (Joan Laporta), Txiki [Begiristain]... it was a generation of brutal players and the best player in the world (Lionel Messi). The stars aligned."

Guardiola has since gone on to win a combined nine major honours in five seasons with Bayern Munich and Man City.
