Kevin De Bruyne 'really enjoying life' under Pep Guardiola

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne admits that life under Pep Guardiola has been "really enjoyable" so far, despite being given a "totally different" role in the team.

Kevin De Bruyne has offered an insight into life under Pep Guardiola, claiming that the new Manchester City manager has already helped to change his role in the team.

The Belgium international has been given a key task to perform in the Citizens' starting lineup, to create chances for teammates in an unorthodox formation that sees both full-backs tuck inside.

De Bruyne, who impressed in his maiden campaign at the Etihad Stadium with seven goals and a further nine assists in the top flight, is confident that Guardiola will take City to a whole new level when given time to put his fresh spin on things.

"It has been a good three weeks for us. The way we try to play is very positive and it's really enjoyable for the players to play in this kind of system, where you play nice football," he told Sky Sports News. "It helps also when you win. My position is totally different from last year.

"It's not too defensive, but I know I will be more of a creator but have to help my team-mates up front more to get them the ball. They will do more of the finishing this year but I really enjoy it so far. Everything needs time, we have the same with Belgium. It takes time in training for Pep to get what he wants tactically.

"But it's really nice and you see the spaces opening up, then you know why you're doing it. We want to try and dominate the game but in England you will never do that for a full 90 minutes. We try to do that. It's very positive the way we play. People see a lot of differences, and we are doing really well at the moment."

Man City have started the season with five wins from five in all competitions under Guardiola, most recently beating West Ham United 3-1 in the Premier League.
