Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Everton

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton.

Manchester City will aim to remain on the coat-tails of Premier League leaders Arsenal when they finish 2022 at home to Everton on New Year's Eve.

Pep Guardiola's side leapfrogged Newcastle United back into second place in the table thanks to a 3-1 win over Leeds United on Wednesday, with Erling Braut Haaland bagging a brace after Rodri's opener.

The reigning English champions therefore remain five points adrift of leaders Arsenal, but that gap could be temporarily cut down to two points before the Gunners meet Brighton & Hove Albion later on Saturday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with the Toffees, who succumbed to a last-minute winner in a 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day.

Ruben Dias

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Ruben Dias is Man City's only injury concern with a thigh problem sustained in Portugal's World Cup quarter-final defeat to Morocco, and while Guardiola has not put a timeframe on his recovery, he is expected to be out for up to a month in total.

Julian Alvarez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Chelsea)

Julian Alvarez is still basking in the glory of becoming a World Cup winner with Argentina, and Guardiola does not expect the attacker to return from his break until the New Year, meaning that Saturday's game will come too soon for him.
