The Football Association charges both Wigan Athletic and Manchester City for failing to control their players in Monday's FA Cup tie at the DW Stadium.

Wigan Athletic and Manchester City have both been charged by the Football Association after failing to control their players during the aftermath of Fabian Delph's red card.

Just before the half-time whistle, Delph was sent off for what was deemed to be a dangerous tackle on Max Power, but the referee's decision led to both sets of players reacting to the incident.

Tensions also boiled over on the touchline with Paul Cook and Pep Guardiola becoming involved in an heated exchange as the pair headed back to the changing rooms, and although neither boss will face punishment, the FA has decided to act regarding the conduct of the two teams.

The clubs now have until 6pm on Friday, February 23 in order to answer the charge, but City forward Sergio Aguero has avoided any sanctions after an altercation with a Wigan supporter.

Hundreds of Latics fans invaded the pitch after the full-time whistle, with one male being involved in an exchange with Aguero who had to be restrained before being led off the pitch.

City's top goalscorer will not be charged by the FA, but the governing body has moved to 'remind the player of his responsibilities'.
