Raheem Sterling 'wants Liverpool stay after Brendan Rodgers assurance'

Raheem Sterling reportedly decides to stay at Liverpool after he is given assurances that Brendan Rodgers's job as manager is safe.

Raheem Sterling has reportedly decided to commit his future to Liverpool after being given assurances that Brendan Rodgers is not in danger of losing his job.

There were rumblings that Rodgers's position at Anfield could be in doubt following a poor start to the season.

It is believed that Sterling is close to his Northern Irish boss and wanted to make sure that his job was safe before committing his own future to the Merseyside outfit.

Last week, reports emerged claiming that the England international is poised to sign a five-year deal, and now the reported reasons behind Sterling's decision to stay have emerged.

According to Goal.com, an agreement is close to being finalised after chief executive Ian Ayre told Sterling that the club have no intention of sacking Rodgers.

The 20-year-old has become a regular in the first team after emerging from the youth system, which he joined in 2010 from Queens Park Rangers.
