Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers eyes Ashley Williams as a potential replacement for Jamie Carragher, according to reports.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been linked with another raid on his former club Swansea City, this time for Welsh centre-back Ashley Williams.

The Northern Irishman returned to the Liberty Stadium for midfielder Joe Allen in the summer, and is now believed to be interested in the 28-year-old defender.

According to the Daily Post, Williams is seen as a replacement for Jamie Carragher, who has announced that he will retire from football at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, there is also believed to be doubt regarding the futures of Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.
