Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has reportedly indicated that he would reject a move to Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a switch to Liverpool.
Both clubs have been linked with the Belgian in recent weeks, but reports earlier this week suggested that Spurs were considering launching a bid which could involve Emmanuel Adebayor moving in the opposite direction.
However, the Evening Standard claims that Benteke was unhappy with Tottenham's attempts to buy him in 2013, when he handed in a transfer request after learning that the North Londoners were ready to pay £25m for his services.
The report suggests that the 24-year-old is keen on joining Liverpool, but it remains unclear whether either club are willing to pay £32.5m to trigger his release clause.
Despite missing the start of the campaign, Benteke finished with 13 goals in 28 Premier League appearances last season.
