Real Madrid reportedly offer Xabi Alonso a new two-year contract extension amid reports of interest from Liverpool.

Real Madrid will offer Xabi Alonso a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club amid interest from Liverpool, according to a report.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been linked with a return to Anfield as Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wants him to anchor his midfield next season.

However, Madrid have made the move to tie down Alonso and keep him at the club beyond his current contract that is scheduled to run out next year, according to The People.

Alonso had reportedly told senior officials at the Bernabeu that he wanted to leave the club in the summer, but this offer appears to have changed his mind.
