Crystal Palace join Jonjo Shelvey race

Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway contacts Liverpool about the availability of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to reports.

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has reportedly contacted Liverpool to enquire about the availability of Jonjo Shelvey.

The midfielder has been made available for transfer by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers this summer, after failing to make an impact at Anfield last season in nine Premier League starts.

Swansea City have been heavily linked with a move for the England international but Holloway is ready to join the race with a £5m bid, according to The Mirror.

Shelvey is under contract with Liverpool until 2017 and is thought to be undecided over his long-term future at this stage.

The 21-year-old scored five times in all competitions for the Reds last season, with four of those strikes coming in the Europa League group stages.
