Liverpool officials will reportedly hold talks with Bayern Munich next week over a deal to bring Xherdan Shaqiri to Anfield.
The Reds are said to be long-time admirers of the Switzerland World Cup star, although a move last summer broke down when Adam Lallana joined the club instead.
Speculation mounted earlier this week suggesting that Brendan Rodgers had launched a bid for Shaqiri, and the Daily Star now claims that the Reds will step up their pursuit for the 23-year-old following the news that Steven Gerrard will leave at the end of the season.
It is thought that Liverpool have made an offer in the region of £11m for the highly sought-after midfielder, who has also been linked with a move to Juventus.
Shaqiri, who joined Bayern for a fee of £10m from Basel in 2012, has made 15 appearances for the Bundesliga leaders in all competitions this season.
