Liverpool reportedly step up their interest in signing Barcelona midfielder Gavi in the upcoming summer transfer window, but they face competition.

Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Barcelona's Gavi this summer.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for the Spanish giants, making 26 La Liga appearances and scoring twice so far.

The teenager is only under contract with Barcelona until 2023, and renewing that deal is seen as a priority for the club right now, but the midfielder is a transfer target for other teams.

According to SPORT, Liverpool have intensified their interest in the youngster as they have sounded him out in a bid to try and secure his signature this summer.

However, the Reds are not the only top club in Europe that want to buy him, as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in Gavi as well.

The midfielder has a release clause of £50m in his current deal, which Barcelona hope to increase significantly if he signs a new contract.
