Liverpool reportedly sign left-back Lorenzo Melgarejo on a season-long loan deal, subject to a work permit.

Liverpool will reportedly complete a season-long loan deal for Benfica defender Lorenzo Melgarejo, if the player can obtain a work permit.

The Reds have been looking for more cover in the left-back role, with Jose Enrique and Jack Robinson their only two recognised left-sided defenders.

However, the club have tied up a deal for Melgarejo and the 22-year-old will make the move to Anfield if the permit can be granted, according to The Telegraph.

The Paraguay international was part of the Benfica side that were beaten by Chelsea in the Europa League final back in May.
