Liverpool keen on Mexican teen striker?

Liverpool are linked with a move for young Mexican striker Diego Lainez.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for young Mexican striker Diego Lainez.

The 17-year-old currently plies his trade for Liga MX side Club America, making 12 appearances since his step up to the first team in March this year.

Lainez also turned out for his country in the recent Under-17s World Cup, scoring twice in four games before Mexico's elimination at the last-16 stage.

According to ESPN Deportes, the Reds sent scouts to watch him during the 3-2 group-stage defeat to England, where he scored a brace, and are now considering making a bid.

La Liga side Villarreal are also said to be monitoring Lainez's progress.
