Mohamed Salah provides a fresh update on his contract situation at Liverpool, with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2025.

Mohamed Salah has insisted that he is only focused on enjoying the final year of his contract at Liverpool before making a decision on his future.

Speculation over the 32-year-old's future at Anfield has been rife for some time, with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2025.

During his seven-year stay on the red side of Merseyside, Salah has earned legendary status having contributed with 213 goals and 90 assists in 351 appearances, as well as winning a total of seven trophies.

Salah scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists in 44 games for Liverpool last season as they won the EFL Cup and settled for a third-placed finish in the Premier League, and the Egyptian has since contributed to three goals (two goals, one assist) in the club's opening two league games of the new campaign.

Liverpool's No.11 is regarded as a key player under new head coach Arne Slot, who recently stated that Salah can continue playing at the highest level for "many more years".

"I see what he does to keep his body as it is to be ready to play every game, so I think there are many more years inside of him to play," Slot told reporters after Salah scored in Liverpool's 2-0 win at Ipswich Town a fortnight ago.

Saudi-linked Salah remains coy over Liverpool future

However, there have been persistent rumours about a potential big-money future move to the Saudi Pro League for Salah.

The Reds allegedly rejected a £150m offer from Al-Ittihad for Salah in September last year, but it has since been reported that they would find it difficult to turn down an offer of £100m for a player who turns 33 next June and is out of contract in less than 12 months' time.

Another report has claimed that Liverpool's owners are 'cautious' about handing lucrative extensions to players in their thirties, raising further doubts about Salah future at Anfield.

Despite that, Salah claims he is not even pondering the future and has instead that he is just taking things "one day at a time".

Speaking to Sky Sports News ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday, Salah said: "I just came for a season and was like: 'I have one year left so just let's enjoy it'.

Salah future remains up in the air amidst Chiesa arrival

"Don't think about the contract now, don't think about anything now, let's just enjoy it. I don't want to think about next year or about the future. Let's enjoy the last year and we'll see.

"Every week that's the most important thing, just think one game at a game. Feel good to be here and that's it."

Salah was reportedly made the highest-paid player in Liverpool's history when he penned a new three-year deal in July 2022 worth in excess of £350,000 per week.

Speculation about Salah's future comes at a time when Liverpool are closing in on the signing of another wide forward in the form of Federico Chiesa, who could end up battling with the Egyptian for starts in Slot's side.

Chiesa flew into Merseyside on Wednesday afternoon for his medical after Liverpool reached an agreement with Juventus to sign the 26-year-old for an initial £10m plus add-ons.
