Coventry City earmark Liverpool's Ryan Kent as loan signing

Liverpool winger Ryan Kent has been earmarked as a potential loan signing by Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray.

The League One side, currently second in the table, have seen first-choice attacking midfielder James Maddison ruled out for several months with an ankle injury.

Kent is deemed a hot prospect at Anfield as he featured in the Reds' pre-season tour of Asia and Australia this summer.

Mowbray is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: "[Kent] is a young player who we have noted an interest with Liverpool. We've watched him for a while and he's my type of footballer really.

"He can come in and do what James isn't going to be able to do for the next four or five months. He can handle the ball, play off both feet, travel with the ball and play anywhere behind that main striker, so it makes sense.

"Hopefully we can get him in over the next couple of days but there's a lot of competition for him so let's wait and see."

Oldham-born Kent joined Liverpool's academy at the age of seven.
