Bayer Leverkusen 'eye Dejan Lovren move'

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly keen on a deal for Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren.

The 30-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield in recent weeks having fallen behind the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in the pecking order at the club.

Roma had been credited with a firm interest, although Liverpool are believed to have called off the Croatian's proposed move to the Italian giants at the final moment.

According to Bild, Leverkusen are firmly in the hunt for the 2018 World Cup finalist, with the Bundesliga giants viewing Lovren as the perfect player to boost their options in defence.

The report claims that Leverkusen are keen on a season-long loan move, although it is unclear whether the German outfit would want to include a future purchase option in the deal.

Lovren featured in just 13 of Liverpool's 38 Premier League matches last term, while he has not played for Jurgen Klopp's side in the early stages of the new campaign.
