Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that Aston Villa will improve as long as Paul Lambert remains in charge at the club.

Brendan Rodgers has described Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert as a "top, top manager".

The Villa manager is facing a relegation battle with the club currently sitting 18th in the Premier League table.

The Liverpool manager told Villa's website: "Paul is a top, top manager. You only have to see what he did with Norwich.

"Paul Lambert is a top, top manager. The longer he is here, the better Aston Villa will become.

"Once he is able to bring his type and his profile in, the players he wants to improve, they will move forward."

Liverpool beat Villa 2-1 on Sunday.
