Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Liverpool in Saturday's Premier League clash.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly optimistic about the fitness of James Maddison for Saturday evening's Premier League clash with Liverpool in North London.

The English playmaker hyperextended his knee during last weekend's 2-2 North London derby draw with Arsenal, but he managed to carry on for a short while before being substituted.

Spurs sent Maddison for scans earlier this week, which are thought to have provided reassuring results, and Ange Postecoglou revealed that both he and Son Heung-min came through training on Friday with no problems.

However, Brennan Johnson left the Emirates turf with a hamstring problem and is confirmed to be missing out, joining Ivan Perisic (knee), Giovani Lo Celso (thigh), Alfie Whiteman (ankle), Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Bryan Gil (groin) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) in the medical bay.

Unless there are any late setbacks with Maddison, the former Leicester City man ought to link arms with Dejan Kulusevski and Son, the latter of whom scored twice from a pair of Maddison assists to snatch a point against the Gunners.

With Johnson fighting a losing battle to make himself available, Richarlison could be drafted back into the first XI at the tip of the attack, although Manor Solomon is a viable alternative.

Having ran the show at the Emirates, Yves Bissouma will continue in the engine room alongside Pape Sarr, while Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie's spots in the full-back areas appear to be safe.

Cristian Romero had a North London derby to forget - scoring an own goal before conceding a penalty - but the Argentine will pair up with Micky van de Ven ahead of Guglielmo Vicario as ever.

Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Richarlison
