Liverpool youngster Andre Wisdom has called on the England Under-21s to begin the process of rebuilding their reputation against Scotland tonight.
Wisdom captained Stuart Pearce's side during this summer's European Under-21 Championship in Isreal, where the Young Lions lost three games and failed to score from open play.
England coach Roy Hodgson has taken charge of the youth team for tonight's British battle at Bramall Lane, with Wisdom challenging his side to produce an impressive performance in their first match since Israel.
He told The Mirror: "I can stand here making excuse after excuse but we have to start doing our talking on the pitch. We need to go out against Scotland, impress the fans and impress the manager and show we have learned.
"I can't say I've got over what happened in Israel. But now people who saw that are saying we're not good enough and we have to try to prove them wrong.
"We can only start doing that by winning games."
The 20-year-old has seven Under-21 caps to his name, alongside 19 first-team appearances for Liverpool at senior level.
