Rodgers: 'We are not a one-man team'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists that his side are not a one-man team, citing the impressive goalscoring displays in Luis Suarez's absence this season as evidence.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has dismissed the suggestion that his side are over-reliant on striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan has scored 23 goals for the Merseyside club in the Premier League this season, which is over twice as many as the cub's second top goalscorer.

Despite Suarez's impressive haul, Rodgers has rejected the idea of Liverpool being a one-man team, pointing towards the nine goals his side have scored in the two games the 26-year-old has missed.

"If you are the second-highest scorers away, it's not really just one guy who is doing it," Rodgers told reporters.

"That was proved last week, absolutely. Luis hasn't played two games and we've scored nine goals away from home [in those two matches].

"It's a bit unfair to say we were totally reliant on him, although Luis did his job really well, there's no doubt."

Liverpool face Everton in the Merseyside derby this afternoon.
