Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has called on his players to show more consistency during the second half of the season.
The Merseysiders failed to build on their recent 4-0 victory over Fulham as they went down 3-1 at Stoke City on Boxing Day - a result that saw them slip down to 10th place in the Premier League table.
"We've shown against many of the top teams that we have the game to compete," Rodgers told reporters. "Against some of the other teams we have shown wonderful demonstrations.
"But it has to be efficient and consistent. That's the single biggest word. We have boys that want to come in and work every day, but it has to be consistent."
Liverpool continue their league campaign with a trip to bottom-placed Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.
