Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists that Luis Suarez is "happy", despite the striker's intentions to leave Anfield this summer.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that unsettled striker Luis Suarez is "happy", despite uncertainty over his Anfield future.

The Uruguay international has been vocal about his desire to seek pastures new, with reports claiming that the controversial forward is keen on playing for a Champions League club next season.

Arsenal, who have been tracking the prolific forward this summer, reportedly believed that they had triggered a release clause in his contract following a rejected £40,000,001m bid, but it has since been claimed that the Reds will not accept an offer less than £50m.

"It could have unsettled [the squad] but it hasn't," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. "It's also testament to Luis.

"He hasn't been moping about. It's obviously difficult when you come back after a break, but he has settled in and has been working well.

"It's a story that can keep running but for me there is no new news. Luis is happy. He totally understands the club's point of view."

Real Madrid have also been touted as a possible destination for Suarez.
