Brendan Rodgers hails "outstanding" Liverpool

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers lauds his team's "outstanding" performance in the 4-1 demolition of Swansea City.

Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to his "outstanding" Liverpool team after thumping Swansea City 4-1 at Anfield tonight.

The Reds offered further substance to suggestions that they are recovering their best form as an Adam Lallana brace inspired them to back-to-back Premier League wins.

Rodgers's side weathered a brief storm as Gylfi Sigurdsson initially made it 2-1, before Wilfried Bony missed a chance to equalise moments later, but overall the Northern Irishman has no complaints.

"For me it was about getting back to performing well and getting ideas that will help the players play how we want to play," he told BBC Sport. "We were convincing. We have to keep that intensity and work-rate. It was a great performance against a very good side.

"I felt for the big part of the game we dominated. We gave away a poor goal and it goes to 2-1 and they almost score again straight after so that is a frustration.

"But apart from that spell the work-rate was outstanding and we were really exciting going forward."

The Merseysiders, who moved above Swansea into eighth in the table, host Leicester City on New Year's Day.
