Brendan Rodgers disappointed with how Liverpool ended the season

Brendan Rodgers laments Liverpool's end to the season after a 6-1 mauling at the hands of Stoke City.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his disappointment with how his side have 'finished the last six or eight weeks'.

In Steven Gerrard's last game for his home club, Liverpool were embarrassed as they were thumped 6-1 away to Stoke City.

"We made too many mistakes defensively and individually, Rodgers told BBC Sport. "We were beaten too easily and were not competitive enough. We were very, very poor in that first half.

"It was always going to be a big job in the summer and today's result would certainly ratify that. We understand the job ahead and we will be much better than today going forward.

"We have got to be much better than we have been for the last six or eight weeks. We will work tirelessly to look to put on a better show next season."

The Merseyside-based team finished the Premier League in sixth spot after winning just one of their last six games.
