Brendan Rodgers 'devastated by Liverpool's decision to sack him'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly devastated to have been sacked by the club and intends to take a break away from football.

Brendan Rodgers has reportedly been left feeling devastated after getting sacked by Liverpool following a spell that lasted just over three years.

The Northern Irishman was let go by the club's American owners FSG three hours after Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday.

During three full seasons at the club, Rodgers failed to guide the Reds to a trophy, but his side finished one point behind Premier League champions Manchester City in 2014.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers was devastated to have been dismissed, but plans to take a short break away from football before returning to management.

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp is favourite to replace Rodgers at Anfield, with some reports claiming that Liverpool have offered the German a three-year deal.
