Nathaniel Clyne: 'Liverpool can win title'

Nathaniel Clyne believes that Liverpool have what it takes to compete for the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has suggested that the Reds can challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Merseysiders have not been champions of England since 1990 and came sixth in the standings last term.

Clyne, who is one of eight signings that Liverpool have made this summer, is confident that his new club can regain their place as title contenders.

"Two seasons ago, Liverpool were pushing and nearly won the league, so we're not too far away and with the additions to the team this year, we are looking to push on again. I hope we can push for the title this season," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"You can see with the team and the quality that we have got that we can have a special season."

Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign away at Stoke City on Sunday.
