James Milner insist Liverpool can still improve

Liverpool midfielder James Milner believes that the club can still improve and need to build on their 4-1 win against Manchester City.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner has admitted that the team need to continue improving despite their 4-1 win against Manchester City on Saturday.

The 29-year-old felt the team were "outstanding" against Manuel Pellegrini's side, but insisted that Liverpool must replicate their away form at Anfield if they want to challenge near the top of the table.

Milner told Sky Sports News: "I thought we were outstanding. We pressed them all over the field, created a few chances and I thought we could have had a few more.

"There are always areas we can improve. If you look at the teams, we have played away from home and the results we have got, it has been pretty solid, but obviously the home form we can improve.

"We know that is where we need to do better and we are more than capable of that. If we can get the home form right, we won't be too far away.

The England international returned to the Etihad Stadium for the first time since leaving the club in the summer, and Milner admitted that he had mixed emotions when he came up against his former side.

The former Aston Villa midfielder added: "It was strange coming back to the place where I was for five years and had a lot of good times, but as soon as you step on the field, it is business time."

Milner has scored one goal and provided three assists in 12 league appearances in his debut season at Liverpool.
