Simon Mignolet: 'Liverpool fought really hard'

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is pleased that the team "fought really hard" to beat Burnley in the Premier League.

Simon Mignolet has praised his Liverpool teammates after they "fought really hard" for victory against Burnley in the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling scored the only goal in the 1-0 win at Turf Moor, leaving Brendan Rodgers's side ninth in the table ahead of Monday's match against Swansea City.

The goalkeeper told the Liverpool Echo: "We got what we came for and that's the three points so we're very . We did the ugly bits of the game well and fought really hard as a team.

"At half time we were able to go in and settle. It was still 0-0 and then obviously we did the job in the second half.

"Coming here to Burnley, we knew it was going to be tough. It's a difficult ground to come to and it was always going to be a battle. All that mattered was getting the three points and we've done that."

Mignolet returned to action during the match after Brad Jones was forced off with a thigh injury.
